The History of The Elliott House Inn
Built as a private residence in 1861, the remarkably preserved Elliott House Inn is an architectural treasure that has weathered hurricanes, earthquakes and even the Civil War. The Inn is built in the quintessential Charleston style with welcoming piazzas built to catch cool sea breezes on a warm Carolina day overlooking a private courtyard.
After over a century as a private home, The Elliott House Inn began to welcome guests in 1981. In 2009 the Inn closed for an extensive two-year renovation and is reopening in the Fall of 2011.
